What is the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix 2022? Set our course for Imola!

The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix 2022 takes place at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari or Imola, with a sprint qualifying format.  The first European round of the season takes us to the homeland of Scuderia Ferrari! All you need to know about Emilia Romagna Grand Prix 2022.

Emilia Romagna is all about Scuderia Ferrari land

Mugello is near the Tuscan hills with everything here infused with the spirit of auto racing history and the local ruler – the prancing horse. Bologna, Parma, Modena, and nearby Maranello, Ferrari’s HQ. That is also all about Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz arrive at Imola with royal honors in front of the tifosi. Leclerc made a dream start to the 2022 Formula 1 season, scoring 71 points from a possible 78. He has two wins, two pole positions, a second place and all three fastest lap points in his pocket.

Carlos Sainz, Leclerc’s teammate at Ferrari, drifts a bit from Monegasque and takes third place in the F1 drivers standings. Sainz defends the Ferrari positions against Red Bull’s attacks from Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

Ferrari’s victory in the homeland area in front of the Tifosi is more than a win. This is like fighting back for all those failed years and smiling at tons of critics. To rise, as Lewis Hamilton says. Even if Charles Leclerc cannot score, he still leads the drivers’ standings, but both Scuderia Ferrari drivers will make a big show.

Emilia Romagna Grand Prix 2022 circuit

F1 Imola GP is about adrenaline.

Imola or Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari hosted the first race in 1953 and Formula 1 reached Imola in 1963. In the past decade, the racing circuit has changed. F1 drivers today describe their experiences on the racetrack as thrill rides. They pass the corners of Enzo e Dino Ferrari, like Acque Minerali, at such a fast pace that adrenaline rushes into every corner.

The race takes place over 63 laps of the 4.909-kilometre Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari with a special F1 sprint format. Last Emilia Romagna Grand Prix 2021 was full of tension till the final lap.

From a general point of view, Scuderia Ferrari and their magic engine have only one way – to win the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix with one-two podium places. It doesn’t really matter whether Charles Leclerc or Carlos Sainz will be the honorable winner. However, it is Max Verstappen’s Red Bull car that suits more to racing circuits like Enzo e Dino Ferrari.

One thing is certain: the race will be extremely challenging, both in terms of speed and psychological stress. Speaking of tension, Carlos Sainz still has not signed a contract with Scuderia for 2023. It is essential for the Spaniard to pass the Imola test for 5, or, as they commonly put it, to win!

The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix 2022 may change your plans.

Traditionally, we have three practice sessions, Saturday’s qualifying sessions and Sunday’s race. The F1 sprint at the Emilia Romagna GP will be the first Sprint in the 2022 Formula 1 season. Remember, Imola F1 qualifying takes place on Friday, while the F1 sprint in Italy takes place on Saturday. On Sunday, there are no changes in the timetable.

Imola GP 2022 rules for the F1 sprint race.

  1. Before, it was an F1 sprint qualifying race, but today it is an F1 sprint race running at 100 kilometres, just like a full-fledged race.
  2. They previously held a sprint race to determine pole positions, as the winner of the mini-race took the first position on the starting grid for Sunday. Today the winner of Friday’s qualifying takes the first place on the starting grid for Sunday’s race, and the sprint race adds points to the F1 drivers standings.
  3. Only the first three drivers scored the points after F1 races previously, with 3-2-1, respectively. Today, the first eight drivers will get points – 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1, respectively.

The next F1 sprint races will take place in Austria and Brazil.

It is the racing atmosphere that makes the deal, since each of our bravest drivers wants to win. Red Bull’s drivers will take the outrageous opportunity to surpass Scuderia Ferrari at home.

In order to fight back, Mercedes craves the advantage. The other two drivers also have special feelings for Imola and Emilia Romagna. Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso were members of Prancing Horses. Special feelings, racing atmosphere, take your course on Imola!
