The itinerary of the Rally Italia 2021 has changed considerably, so that instead of the seven-year tradition in Alghero, the service park has now been moved to Olbia. South of Olbia, the updated shakedown “Loiri Porto San Paolo” will take place, which we are planning for tomorrow. Alghero itself will receive a standing ovation at the start ceremony on the same day.
As the base changes, the entire route will also change. The organizers of the Rally Sardegna had prepared for this day almost five months in advance and thought through everything down to the smallest detail. The fifth stage of the World Rally Championship will take place entirely on the sandy roads in the north of the Italian island, but it will also remain a place for classic battles.
Thus, part of the track will be new to our favorite drivers. But before we find out the most epic special stages of the Rally Italia, let’s check out the full schedule for our race weekend.

WRC Sardegna 2021 route
Includes some of the most epic special stages. Here we are, 20 special stages with a range of 303.10 km with two passes on the same sections.
“Filigosu” SS 1 / 3 – the longest of the rally. Not only has it not been used for many years, now rally drivers must pass it in reverse order.
«Tempio Pausania» SS 5 / 7 – the toughest and roughest track for rally drivers. Last year Esapekka Lappi called it insanity after the finish. And the reason for this insanity lies in the narrow edges of the road.
Saturday brings us back to the classic rally conditions of the track.
“Coiluna-Loelle” SS 9 / 11 is a clear example. But here Kalle Rowanpera crashed into the trees at high speed last year.
“Lerno — Monti di Alà” SS 10 / 12 will be the continuation. However, the site requires the highest rally driving experience, because in our opinion, too fast and too slow sections alternate in absolute arbitrariness.
“Bortigiadas” SS13 / 15. The last time it was partially involved was in 2005, that is 16 years ago.
On Sunday, on the north coast of Gallura, we can expect totally unknown: “Arzachena-Braniatogghiu”. The Power Stage takes place in the brand new “Aglientu-Santa Teresa”.
The only disappointment is the section along the coast, “Sassari – Argentiera” on the route. However, we should be prepared for many surprises.
By the way, Sebastian Ogier has already stated that he is ready. At the same time, the challenge of the 2021 Rally Italia will be a great opportunity for Dani Sordo. His emotions are well-founded, the Spaniard is particularly strong on such routes.
