Things have not been great for McLaren for the past three seasons with Honda. McLaren is said to ditch the engine company to start a new relationship with Renault. Major reasons why McLaren hasn't won any game in a while is due to power and engine issues. Zak Brown, McLaren’s boss, is positive that the deal with Renault motors will lead to more wins in 2018 Formula one. Racing Director, Boullier also believes that a change of cars will help McLaren get back to winning. One of McLaren lead drivers, Fernando Alonso, has turned down racing at Monaco Grand Pix and made a switch for Indycar.
The last victory recorded by McLaren was in 2012 Brazilian grand pix, but it hopes to be one of the contenders in 2018 since it has ended its contract with Honda which wasn’t a pleasant one. Zak Brown told ESPN sports
That’s certainly our goal. We are very confident in the Renault engine
After he was asked if they will be able to compete for the podiums in 2018. He further went on to state that Renault has a great history in the sports and have been consistent in the WRC for the past ten to fifteen years. Eric Boullier stated that the drivers, the team, the power and the engine made it a complete package. He said they are excited about the new change and are prepared to face the competitions. He also said he hopes F1 fans will enjoy greater entertainment value in 2018, as well as a more competitive field, with as many as five different teams contending for the win.
Red bull Toro Rosso F1 Team who also use the Renault cars will likely meet McLaren this year. It will be a good game to see how well the McLaren team will do with their new a Renault engine with high power and efficiency.Red Bull Toro Rosso have however not started so well this with their aerodynamics but it is still the best chassis in their second half. The power falls short a little but not as bad as the McLaren MCL32. The last time McLaren could boast of a good engine was in 2014 when they still had the Mercedes cars. Even though the McLaren and Red Bull Toro Rosso cars have similarities, they are still very different. This season might mark the end of the relationship between Toro Rosso and Renaults and the beginning of a long one between McLaren and Renaults. We all have our fingers crossed on this. How both teams deal with their cars and the methods they use in driving makes the grand difference between the two of them.
This season might experience lots of dynamics from different angles as both teams are geared up to take control of the race. It might be a four to five team fight for the win and we are more than excited to watch this happen.
